Victoria Pavilion Panel Unveiled November 2, 2003.

The Victoria Trans Canada Trail Pavilion was built in 1999 and at present has 12 panels. Two additional name panels and two message panels were unveiled on November 2 at 1:00 p.m.

The Victoria Pavilion is located off the north end of Tyee Rd. The trail that starts from there leads down the short hill to the pavilion. If approached via the Galloping Goose/TCT trail it is located at the south end of the Selkirk trestle which crosses the Gorge Waterway.

Combine a visit to the Victoria Pavilion with a ride or walk on this attractive section of the Trans Canada Trail.

Nanaimo TCT Pavilion Refurbished

Great news!!! Thanks to Rod Brown the Nanaimo Trans Canada Trail Pavilion has been refurbished and the name panels returned, complete with the updated list of donors.

For the past few years, because of vandalism, the donor panels had been removed and the area around the pavilion had deteriorated to the point where someone had dumped a load of gravel for storage right beside it. Rod arranged for the new panels to be redone and the City of Nanaimo to reinstall the panels with increased protection against vandalism. The School Board and Parks Department helped with some landscaping and site clearance for better visibility from the street. This is a good example of cooperation within a community that is proud of its surroundings.

The Nanaimo TCT pavilion is located on the Trail, off Jingle Pot Rd beside the Serouxman Stadium.

Haslam Creek Bridge - Officially Opened May 10, 2003.

How to Get to the Bridge.

  • The Haslam Creek Bridge is situated about 4 km west of Nanaimo's Cassidy Airport, which is located on Highway 1 south of Nanaimo.

  • At the south end of the airport, Timberlands Road meets Highway 1. The intersection has a traffic light.

  • Turn west onto Timberlands Road and proceed to the T-junction. This is far as you can go by car. Rondalyn Resort is to the right of this intersection. A parking area for trail users has been provided by the Resort. Please park in the designated area.

  • At the T-junction, proceed south (left if approaching from Highway 1) and continue by the red Weyerhauser gate to the entrance to the gravel pit. This gate can be locked at any time so do not drive into the pit area.

  • Walk through the gate and keep right. Follow the pink flagging that will direct you along the tree line to the north west side of the pit area.

  • The trail to the bridge is an old logging road located on the west side of the pit. Look for a Trans Canada Trail marker located high on one of the trees. It should take no more than 10 minutes to walk from the pit gate to this trail.

  • Follow the trail for 5 to 10 minutes. As the trail begins heading downhill towards Haslam Creek, watch for another trail on the left that is marked by TCT signage. This is a short trail that goes right to the bridge. If you continue on the main trail, it ends on a bluff downstream from the bridge and you can easily retrace your steps.
