Extension to the Matsqui Dyke Trail
Starting in 1996, the GVRD, Trans-Canada Trail, Municipalities and Community Investors funded the construction of a 3-km extension to the Matsqui Dyke Trail. It stretches from Glenmore Rd. to Olend Rd. and goes through the Matsqui First Nations Reserve. The scenery of this 3-km stretch is very different from the scenery on the main part of the trail. It goes through the wooded area and in some parts looks more like a hiking trail than a place for walking. The Trail goes underneath the CN Railroad and this underpass became a solution/alternative for level crossing.
