Coquihalla Summit Trans Canada Trail Challenge Feedback from Participants

As well as all the positive comments heard at Portia, Carolin Mines Road and Sowaqua here are a number of unsolicited e-mail responses that we received:

Diana and I rode your event last weekend and I would like to thank you and the many volunteers for a most enjoyable day.  Everything was well organized and everyone was very friendly and helpful.  I know much work goes into an event like this but we do hope it becomes an annual event.  Again thank you for a most enjoyable day.

I enjoyed the ride last Sunday. Met all sorts of folks....everyone in the same good spirits.......had a hoot (even in the cattlegate!). Stayed at Coquihalla Lakes with Eunice and all..........wonderful people, nice place! All your energy and efforts are appreciated. All the improvements on the trail are great! I particularly enjoyed getting off the gravel towards Portia!!!!! That's a nice ride through there. And so many healthy Volunteers!! So good. The ol' KVR is a special place I ride several times a year....am passionate about what I see.....Good Job...Thanks for the good day.....See you on the trail.

PS; Thanks to the fine lady (Volunteer at Portia) who gave me a lift back to Toll booth.

Just wanted to say we had a great time on the ride on the weekend.  We rode the entire 60 km all the way into Hope.  There were so many great sites along the way.  Some of our group actually saw a bear.  Do you have any record of the number of people that actually rode on to Hope?  Our group was curious - an approximation would be super.  There were some areas along the route that were pretty treacherous, the very rocky/ shale areas, extremely sharp on the tires, and very very bumpy.  You really needed to have fantastic breaks, as I was breaking almost continuously down those routes.  Thought you should know.

I finished the ride into Hope with the two fellows.  Great day...thanks for the event.  Next year, can you do something about the torrential rainfall that hit me on my way to Jessica?

Just a quick thank you for all your hard work on this event – my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our ride and he was thrilled to win a $25 gift certificate to the Runners Den … we were scheduled to take the bus back to Hope after riding our bikes to Jessica but we waited on the bus for an hour and the driver could not give us any indication as to when he would finally be starting back to Hope so we took matters into our own hands and just decided to cycle the remaining 17 km back into town – my backside is a little sorer because of that decision but we were cold, wet and tired and thought it would be faster to just ride the rest of the way. I hope we didn’t foul your people tracking system by doing that …Anyway – it was a great day and and I look forward to recommending this trip to visitors! Now all we need is a regular shuttle service to take riders and bikes from Hope to the summit so they can cycle back down … I am going to start spreading the word until an entrepreneur sees the opportunities this could offer!

I went with 7 friends yesterday.................The trip was great.
Thank you ever sooooooooo
much.  Please keep me on a mailing list

Just a note to let you know how much I appreciated being able to ride the trail with your group on Saturday. That was a great update on the KVR as well as a super introduction to the Trans Canada Trail.

I was most impressed with the work you and your crew have done to open up the Coquihalla valley.  A very good combination for use of the KVR road bed and the pipeline road. I know you have much work still ahead  with some of the more difficult sections, but I have no doubt your continued efforts will be successful.

We want to thank you for a well organized and the well marked trails for your inaugural TCT Coquihalla Summit Challenge.  We enjoyed it immensely and plan on becoming members.

Wanted to give my appreciation to you on such a wonderfully organized event  this Sunday the 13th.  It was absolutely fun!  Even though the weather was somewhat wet.  It was still great to see all of those sites.  My group had orignally planned to be bussed back from Jessica...but instead we rode to Hope through the Othello Tunnels.  Your volunteer staff was so helpful and knowledgeable that we made it back all tired but happy.  Thanks again....and I look forward to many more.

Thanks for inviting Terasen to take part in the opening of the Coquihalla section of the Trans Canada Trail on Sunday.  I am glad the weather was reasonably cooperative and was pleased to see the number of people who participated in the event.  I appreciate the kind words that you and others said about Terasen.  You and Trails BC are to be congratulated for your efforts to make the TCT a reality.

The bike trip was wonderful! we really enjoyed it... from gloria mansus and friends from Merritt.

Thanks for all the hard work & coordination.  The hike went very well & we enjoyed it immensely.

Congratulations on a well organized event.  Everybody I met said it was great.!

Many thanks for all of your hard work for this inaugural event.
Everything was well organized, except perhaps the weather !
We had a great ride all the way to Hope and found the trails well marked save for the area around the Carolin Mine exit hill.  Thanks to the volunteers though, we found our way without any problems.

Nine of our members (7 hikers and 2 cyclists) participated...  The event was very well organized, the volunteers were helpful and informed and the scenery was great.  We particularly enjoyed the trail guide which provided information on points of interest as we followed the trail...
