Please read carefully
The
starting point
will be at the Britton Creek Rest Area. It is accessed from the
Coquihalla Lakes Exit a few kilometres north of the Toll Booths. Everyone
must check-in to get a number, a package of information to better enjoy
the challenge, lunch, and water. We will be going ahead rain or shine.
We will start the check-in at 8:15 a.m. to be ready for the ceremonies
at 10:00 a.m. We hope to have all participants off on the trail by
10:30 p.m. Also, there will be the following on sale: Event
T-shirts, Trans Canada Trail books, KVR Passports (diary), etc. At the
Hope Info Centre there will be a host TCT bus where you can get Trans
Canada Trail information, buy Trans Canada Trail merchandise, and peruse
KVR books.
At
Britton Creek Rest Area there is the regular food kiosk.
At Britton CreeK Rest Area and
Portia

Event T-shirts will
be for sale along with Trans Canada Trail books and other souvenirs.

Passport Diary Books can also be
purchased. The first stamps could be from this event , Trails BC,
and Coquihalla Lakes Lodge. In Hope it you purchase your book
and can get it stamped at Blue Moose Coffee House on Saturday evening for
the Kettle Valley Brakemen performance.
Shuttle Times
Shuttle to Coquihalla Lakes
- Meet
at the Info Centre in Hope between
7:30 a.m.
and 8:30 a.m.
Take the exit for the Fraser Canyon Highway (#1). The Info Centre is on
the right side of the road as you enter Hope. If you are using the bike
shuttle please be there as early as possible. We cannot wait for
latecomers.

Park along the streets,
not in front of the Info Centre.

Passengers will board busses and bicycles will be loaded unto trucks.
- We
need cyclists to help us in the following ways:
- If
at all possible take a tool along that will allow you to turn your
handlebars sideways. Please do this ahead of time. Don’t worry about
this if it is a complicated operation on your bike
- It
is common to also take the pedals off and carry them with you. Only
do this if you are comfortable with it. It certainly helps us to pack
the bicycles more effectively in the trucks.

Help in any way you can to load the bikes.
- Coffee will be offered by the Lion's Club next to the
Info Centre.

Note: There is no shuttle back to Coquihalla Lakes from Hope. Those
going back to Coquihalla Lakes must end their trip at Portia or Jessica –
or arrange your own shuttle from Hope.
What
to take with you
Day
pack
-
Clothing for changes in the weather.
- Extra
food, special needs food, insect repellent, sunscreen, roll of toilet
paper, small shovel, matches and medication.

Cyclists should have a patch kit and a pump that fits their bike tube
valves.
- You
may wish to take extra water. There are sources of water along the way
starting at Needle Creek if you are prepared to drink water coming off
the side of mountains.

Suggestion to walkers. Take an extra pair of socks. At Needle Creek,
change your socks after soaking your feet and take a rest. This is the
14.4 km point, a bit more than half way.
We will
supply a small bag lunch (sandwich, vegetable and fruit, 5 oz trail mix),
one bottle of water. There will also be water stations at Portia and
Jessica. Toilets are at Britton Creek Rest Area and at Portia. The
rest is ‘au naturel’ using the small shovel to bury your treasure(s).
Draw Prizes
Thanks to our numerous sponsors there will be many draw prizes at Portia.
Check your number against the available prizes. The real prize is having
done 27.5 km but this could be a little extra for you.
