The bypass route leaves the former KVR grade on the east where the Myra Forest Service Road crosses the KVR. It follows the Myra FSR south of the KVR for about 500 metres to a deactivated forest access road for 2.5 kilometres. It then follows the south boundary of the Myra-Bellevue Protected area westward through the burn to Pooley Creek. After crossing Pooley Creek, the trail climbs northward approximately 700 metres to the Little White FSR. The route then follows the Little White road back down to the KVR. The total length of the bypass is approximately 15 kilometres while the rail grade between the same two points is about 13 kilometres. The overall elevation difference is about 230 metres.
